The slave section allows you to create .arpa or .int reverse IP zones using the zone format. The reverse section allows you to create .arpa and .int (for IPv6) reverse IP zones using the IP/CIDR notation format. There was a bug in the reverse zone creation script that failed to check to see if the equivilent slave zone already exists on the server. Because of this, you were able to create a slave zone for 1.0.0.127.in-addr.arpa then immediately create a reverse zone for 127.0.0.1, which is exactly the same thing. But that would break the slave zone and cause a mess.
Now the slave and reverse zone creation scripts specifically make sure there is no slave/reverse conflicts before creating a zone.
Also, the reverse zone creation script used to allow you to create 127.0.0.1 even if 127.0.0/24 already exists in another account IF there was no PTR record for that IP. This was by design, but I decided this wasn't a good idea. So now you can't "hijack" IPs in somebody elses IP block. The downside is that people can "hijack" a whole block of IPs and prevent other people from making valid reverse zones. Just let me know if you are not able to create a reverse zone for your IP or IPs, and I'll deal with it personally. Dave Clark [email] [irc chat] DollarDNS Services
